College or Bust

It's been a busy and exciting week.
My youngest is headed for College.
In a way, she's already been there and settled in.
She's been taking advantage of college readiness courses and orientation stuff on campus.  This has helped her get familiar with residence since that's where she will be living. School is too far away from home to travel. (At least she thought so) And, she's been dying to be out on her own.
College or Bust

Move in - Yesterday!

I remember many years ago when my son was moving into residence at a university out of town. It was quite the experience moving him in to a city several hours away and was hard as hell to say goodbye. Even though, it wasn't really a goodbye, it was more of a see ya later! But, it was still tough. After he was all moved in and it was time to leave he had said goodbye to his move in crew at the car. But, I followed him back to his room for a private moment - the mom speech. Lol When I resigned to the fact that I had to go, I gave him a hug and held on tight. A few moments seemed like forever. My son was leaving the nest. My firstborn. The young man of the house. I was trying my hardest not to tear up at a time I should be celebrating. Lol One less teenager around the house. Hahaha But, when I heard what sounded like my son trying to hold back the tears and probably not doing a great job at it...I had to tell him to stop!  He was gonna make me cry.  You know, like an infectious yawn.  But of course, the waterworks began. I couldn't hold it in knowing that he had become emotional in this moment as well. That said a lot in itself.  It was a beautiful moment I'll cherish forever.

This time....very different. I'm more prepared. My daughter has been helping prepare me along with the experience of already going through this with my son.  Oh....and she won't be as far out of town as my son was. Much easier to visit each other. And, let's not forget that Furman is here now. I won't be alone wondering who I can drive nuts. Haha. I got him!!

So yesterday she officially moved in to Residence.

This is not our car but you get the idea! Lol

On the weekend we put off her packing time by doing some mom and daughter bonding. We went to the beach together.  Mind you, I had a previously scheduled GFS Event to host at the beach for which only one person indicated they could come along with several maybes. So, when we got to the beach we went to the spot I was supposed to meet the others ladies at.  We set up shop to be visible and played frisbee. Lol We both weren't very good at it. Haha. But it was fun. After about an hour, we figured nobody was going to show this time so we headed onto the sand past the many volleyball nets that had been set up with people playing beach volleyball. It was kind of cool.

Blanket, chairs, umbrella and a small cooler with some drinks.  We were prepared. Found a spot by the water and laid out for tanning. Lol. My daughter just wanted to get her toes wet. Lol Was so cute. Then we started being silly. Taking photos. What's going to the beach without taking the popular beach shot?

And....I had to pose in the beautiful bikini my BFF Miss Caramel had given me as a gift. Had to let Furman know what he was missing while at work on a Saturday. Lol

After a little while longer, we retired the beach and headed over to Toronto Buskerfest. It was a nice walk through our city streets checking out the different booths and Busker entertainment. Took a few shots and a little video.  I had to capture the Silks performance because those classes are offered at Spinbuddies, but I just haven't been confident enough to try it. Soon!

Anyways....it was a busy weekend and I've gotta start work so I'll quit here.
Just know that the move went well on Sunday after church (we visited a new church too, Hope For Today Fellowship, to support some awesome people as they prepare to open church doors to a community in need).  My baby is all settled into College now. Furman made sure everything was working as it should be before we left. It was a late night.

Have an awesome week...and hope you all had an awesome weekend.

We Did It!!

15k baby!!
All done!
I can't believe I did it we did it!!
So proud of myself!!
(Running the whole race without stopping to walk)
So proud of my friend Catie!
(Running with whole race without stopping to walk and while enduring knee pain)
Furman....he does this stuff all the time. lol
I'm proud of his overall accomplishments,
but this one....was for me and Catie. lol

I owe a lot to Furman for helping me get through it. Helping me train so that I could do it, putting up with my whining and trailing behind during training when I felt like I couldn't do it and just overall being a supportive awesome husband. Love him!
Thank you baby!!!

Sooo...here we go.......

and here is our bling!

It was an absolutely awesome day! Hot as hell! Complete with the support of my daughter, my BFF and her fiance. They were there to cheer us on and capture some moments in photo and video. lol Miss Caramel even came out while she was under the weather. Isn't that sweet? Gotta love her!
Thank you to all of them for their support!

After the Finish!

I like this photo for some reason.
Not sure what we were talking about but i'm sure it was something congratulatory.

This is the awesome shirt we got with our race kits. Absolutely love this shirt because it is long sleeve and because of what it says: "Run not with the feet but with the mind!" (on the front), Mind over Matter on the back with the race name on the back bottom of the shirt. A MidSummer Night's Run. This statement of the shirt couldn't be more true. What Furman has been telling me for the longest time. And...when I was around the 13k mark and realizing I still had 2 very long kms to go....I started talking to myself to remind myself exactly what Furman and the shirt were telling me..."Mind over Matter"!!!

"Run not with the feet but with the mind!"

And let me not forget to mention that I reached my fundraising goal of $300! All to support the Hospital for Sick Children. Thanks to those who lent their support via monetary donation.

So now, we prepare for the next race that has to exclude Furman because it's for women. Can I do it? That's about 7 more kms. Oh man!!!
                                                        Island Girl Half Marathon
But, I'm thinking that I might be in a bit better shape than I think because while I was in a whole lot of aches and pain the evening of the run, I felt pretty good the next day and even today. Slight ache in my hips yesterday but overall, I feel awesome. Today, was just an overall great day!!

I'll end with this Classic!
Love Bob!
Have an awesome week everyone.
God Bless!!

Dance Revolution

I've been meaning to write but it's been a busy week after another great weekend.

Started with hosting my Third GFS Event at Moxie's after work.  Didn't have a great turnout but my new BFF (Miss Caramel...lol) came out to support me and I got to meet another girl that I've been corresponding with for a while now.  We had a great time. And, I ate more than I should have. Lol.

For those who have been to Moxie's before, you know I had to get the White Chocolate Brownie! I had to leave a couple bites because I was just too full.

Saturday was an awesome day from start to finish!

It was Church in the City day too. This time, Miss Caramel joined us for the fun. This time, we were desserts.  I really rather do dinner.  It's just a different experience being in the kitchen preparing the meal for hundreds. But we had fun setting up desserts together. As usual, we had way more deserts than we needed so people were happy at the end of the day when we were handing out actual loaves of banana bread and stuff. lol

It was possibly out friends last Church in the City because they will be changing churches soon. We will certainly miss them and all they do for this ministry. They had actually recommended to our pastor that Furman and I take over being in charge but that won't quite work out. Furman's job requires him to work Saturday's sometimes as well as travel spur of the moment. That, would leave me fending for myself and we can't have that. So, we had to pass on that opportunity but we were certainly honored to have been recommended.

After church in the city we hung out at Miss Caramel's home for a game night. Oh my....what laughs, let me tell you!  Dance Dance Revolution!! Need I say more? lmao It was soo much fun, and quite the workout. I did pretty good considering Wii Fit put me in the 62yr old age category. pfft! Tennis, bowling, baseball? I'll be better next time now that I know what to expect. lol

Yes, we got video but nothing that I'll share. Smh.

So, in lieu of our missing silly video I thought i'd borrow one from YouTube that we were nothing like!! hahaha  This kid is totally amazing!

We will definitely have to do this again sometime!
Maybe we'll get them to come to our place next time and play...
Dance Central on the Xbox Kinect.
Now THAT'S a fun game and worth some wicked laughs too!
Furman and I think it's a better workout than DDR. lol

Anyways....as I mentioned...the week has been busy. I'm getting in my last bit of training before the 15k run on Saturday, A MidSummer Nights Run. In fact, I'm going to try to pick up our Race Kits tonight after work before dance class. The route map is out...... Oh Lordie!!!  Say a prayer for me!!

Exposed!

I decided to write about something funny that happened in my office this week.  A few of you might be able to relate. Then again, maybe not.
It's a friend of a friend story that honestly has nothing to do with me.  Lol
Honestly!
It was just too funny not to share.
And, this could be a case of broken telephone where I don't have all the details correct, but who cares!!! lol

In our office we have a small kitchen.
But our kitchen looks nothing like this one. lol
For those who may read my blog regularly you may already know this because I've complained about the smells before.  Something Fishy.

Well, one day a co-worker was in the kitchen and left her ceramic mug there. I'm not sure why. Maybe she was waiting, away from the kitchen, for water to boil to make herself a hot drink. Maybe she was soaking coffee stains from her mug. Maybe she just forgot it. Who knows. It's not important. Many people leave their dishes alone in the kitchen for one reason or another I notice.
No, this is not it!
Only an example

Well, at some point another co-worker entered the kitchen and decided to help herself to this mug. A mug she never walked into the kitchen with!  Now, this is where I hear my husband saying..."if its not yours, don't touch it!" Lol You can't tell me this lady thought the cup was hers? Apparently this mug wasn't just any regular looking mug that is easily mistaken for another because it had a special design to it. At least that is what I was told.

I didn't see the mug. Not my story remember. Lol
But, this is where I ask, "what on earth was she thinking?" Lol

So, the owner of the mug decided to go on the hunt within the office to see whose desk her mug may have landed. Did she find it?
She sure the hell did!!!!  hahahaha
Can't tell you who it was....cause you wouldn't know her anyways. lol (And I just wouldn't do that) But, we now know! This lady is EXPOSED!! A thief!! What nerve!!
That had to be an awful feeling on her part getting caught. lol

Of course, she gave some stupid excuse for having the other lady's mug. lol Whatever the excuse was that she was selling wasn't bought anyways. But, the office was fairly quiet, so to my knowledge there was no fight. hahaha The owner seemed to have handled the situation pretty gracefully I believe. But man oh man, you do that to the wrong person, and you got a scene. lol

The owner got her mug back!

But now, we got our eyes on the culprit.

Anyone end up missing a lunch? We know who to check first. Because I've heard lots of hilarious stories of people having their lunches stolen, and what they've done to catch the person and/or get back at them. hahaha

Someone should buy this lady this mug.....who desperately wanted one...lol
...Cause she got caught red handed!  lol  EXPOSED!

I thought i'd end my post with this clip from a show I had no clue was on tv....lol Caught Red Handed. lol

HAVE AN AWESOME WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!!

Crazy Weekend

I must say.... It was quite the weekend.
Much thanks to some awesome new friends!
We made a plan, and executed.....for Furman's second experience having a Caribana Weekend.
We were supposed to start off our weekend with an early morning Weekend Ride, but that didn't quite work out as had originally planned so we decided to put it off for a few more weeks.

Mid day....we headed into the city to meet our friends and the weekend began!!
I won't highlight all the shenanigans but we certainly made some great memories.
That being said, a few photos were captured of my silliness. Lmao
When I realized that we hadn't been taking any photos....I decided to create some photo opportunities by playing the tourist and asking a few people to pose with me. lol
Furman was steering clear of the camera and my silliness.
Oh...and it's Carnival....so you know I had to get someone to dance with me. lol When I saw this lady covered from head to toe...I couldn't resist going up to her and getting her to shake loose. It's actually caught on a hilarious video but i'll save you the hysterics and just share a snapshot.

Caribana was fun but I think it was smaller than last years. At least it felt that way. There were definitely less vendors probably because rumor has it that the cost of the permits were higher. Way to go city! Never heard of any violence happening, which is always awesome. But, there was an absolutely horrible accident: Caribbean Carnival to Review Safety After Teen's Death. RIP to this young man and prayers go out to his friends and family during this horrible time of grief. Such a horrible accident.

Even after the parade festivities were over for us, my desire to get in photos was still hot. hahaha We went to eat at a local restaurant and as we were leaving I saw what looked like some Asian tourists posing for a photo so I decided to photobomb their picture. Bahahaha......They never said a word!! Smh. Did they even notice? I'm not sure if some tourist has a group shot with my head in the middle of the four. hahahaha Oh well. The weekend was pure jokes. My post would be wayyy too long if I told you about all the laughter.

But....our weekend didn't end with Caribana.....we headed back out on Sunday to be a part of a birthday get to together by having a nice dinner at an Oliver & Bonacini restaurant - Biff's Bistro. It was French Cuisine and actually wasn't too bad.
Speaking of birthday's....my daughter finally turned 18!! Damn, i'm old!
Happy Birthday to my baby!!  Who clearly is not a baby anymore!

As busy as our weekend was, we managed to squeeze in our weekend run - Monday morning. But, by that time my legs were absolutely exhausted...and still are. But we ran....and I was trying to be strong...till around the 9.5km mark....I decided to be a wimp. I had no more in me. Not good....not good. Next weekend is my 15k MidSummer Night's Run that Furman has been helping me train for. God Bless Him. I know that sometimes I must be a piece of work. lol But you know what, I'm partly ok with being able to finish the 15k and more worried about the First Half Marathon in September. Need more time!!!

Anyways....I just wanted to give an update on an awesome weekend....although I never really told you a whole lot. hahaha Trust me, you don't want to read that much!! I trust that Furman and my friends had a great weekend too....laughing at me! lol Always happy to make somebody smile.

Happy Tuesday!
Love short weeks!!!
